Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 Report
Theme: “Break the Silence, End the Stigma”

To promote the health, dignity, and empowerment of adolescent girls, Child Rights Trust, Bengaluru, with the support of Azim Premji Foundation, organized Menstrual Hygiene Day programmes from 28 May 2026 to 30 May 2026 across six Gram Panchayats of Kurugodu Taluk – Kallukamba, Badanahatti, Genikihal, Somasamudra, Koluru, and Dammuru.

The programme aimed to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene, eliminate myths and stigma surrounding menstruation, and encourage open discussions on menstrual well-being. Resource persons Ms. Parvathi and Ms. Roopa conducted awareness sessions on the menstrual cycle, personal hygiene, nutrition, physical and emotional changes during adolescence, and the importance of maintaining menstrual health.

Key messages shared during the programme included:

Participants were educated on the proper use and disposal of sanitary pads, personal hygiene practices, managing menstrual discomfort, and the importance of nutrition and self-care. Discussions also highlighted the issue of Period Poverty and the need to ensure that every girl has access to safe and hygienic menstrual products.

A total of 556 adolescent girls participated in the programme and benefited from the awareness sessions, group activities, demonstrations, and interactive discussions.

The programme played a significant role in building confidence, promoting healthy practices, and encouraging girls to manage menstruation with dignity, safety, and self-respect.

World Environment Day 2026 Report

Child Rights Trust, Bengaluru, with the support of Azim Premji Foundation, organized World Environment Day awareness programmes across six Gram Panchayats to promote environmental conservation and sustainable living among children and communities.

The programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of protecting the environment, conserving natural resources, reducing pollution, and adopting eco-friendly practices. Resource persons Mr. Basavaraj and Ms. Roopa conducted interactive sessions on environmental pollution, climate change, global warming, deforestation, water conservation, waste management, and the harmful effects of plastic usage.

Children were encouraged to protect trees, conserve water, maintain cleanliness, and adopt environmentally responsible habits in their daily lives. Awareness activities highlighted the importance of tree plantation, rainwater harvesting, proper waste disposal, and reducing single-use plastics.

As part of the celebration, children actively participated in discussions, awareness activities, and tree-planting initiatives. They expressed their commitment to keeping their homes, schools, and villages clean and green.

A total of 1,084 adolescents participated in the programme, including 650 adolescent girls and 434 adolescent boys, making the event a great success.

The programme concluded with the message:

“Protecting the Environment Today for a Safer Tomorrow.”

Programme Details

Introduction

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated across multiple Gram Panchayats to honour the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. The programme aimed to create awareness among children and community members about his life, values, and contributions towards equality, justice, and education.

Programme Overview

The celebrations were organized with active participation from school children, teachers, Panchayat members, Anganwadi workers, and community volunteers. The programme began with garlanding Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait and paying tribute to his contributions.

The sessions focused on key constitutional values such as Equality, Liberty, Justice, Fraternity, Secularism, Democracy, and Dignity of the Individual, along with Dr. Ambedkar’s role in promoting social justice, education, and human rights. 

A total of 1,054 children participated across six Gram Panchayats, including 612 girls and 442 boys.

Various child-friendly activities were conducted to enhance awareness and participation:

  • Drawing Competition 
  • Essay Writing Competition 
  • Speech Competition 
  • Quiz Competition 

These activities helped children express their ideas, improve knowledge, and build confidence.

Key Outcomes

  • Strengthened awareness of constitutional values and social responsibility among children. 

 

Conclusion

The celebration served as a meaningful learning platform for children to understand the importance of equality, education, and social justice. It inspired them to follow the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and become responsible citizens. CRT will continue to organize such programmes to support the holistic development of children.

Programme Details – National Girl Child Day 2026

Conducted in 6 Grama Panchayats ( Badanahatti, Kallukamba, Somasamudra, Koluru, Dommuru Genikihal) of Kurugodu Taluk, Ballary Disttrict 

Child Rights Trust in coordination with local administration, schools and service providers conducted the programme to reach out 1,312 children and teachers as well as the local community.

Speakers included:

  • Mrs. Manjula Bijjur, who spoke about discrimination, safety, and safe/unsafe touch.
  • Dr. Raghavendra, who explained child rights, gender equality, declining girl child ratio, and the POCSO Act.
  • Mr. Govindappa, who encouraged reporting child marriage, child labor, and school dropouts.
  • Headmasters Mr. Gundappa Nagaraj, Mr. Girish, and Mr. Hussain Basha, who emphasized education, safety, and values.
  • Mrs. K. Latha and Mrs. Jayalakshmi, who spoke about challenges faced by girls and the importance of education and character building.

Students were introduced to the Child Helpline 1098 and emergency number 112, and actively participated in discussions and activities to build confidence and awareness.

  • Teachers, school staff, community members, ASHA, Anganwadi workers, Panchayat members, and Child Rights Trust organizers also attended.

National Girl Child Day Pledge:

  • I promise to respect every girl child.
  • I will stand against discrimination and violence towards girls.
  • I will support education, health, and safety of girls.
  • I will promote equality and encourage girls to achieve their dreams.
  • I will help build a society where every girl lives with dignity, confidence, and freedom.

All participants pledged to empower every girl child and strengthen the nation.

Details of the programme

UNCRC Training

A two-day training programme on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) was conducted at VS Law College, Bellary. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Nele Nagappa, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), in the presence of the College Chairman, Principal, READS Director, resource person Mr. Raghavendra, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) member Ms. Nagamani, and college representatives.

Law students from the 1st and 2nd years, along with representatives from Sneha organization, actively participated in the programme. The event witnessed an attendance of over 60 participants.

During the sessions, Mr. Raghavendra and Ms. Nagamani provided insights into key child protection laws, including the UNCRC, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA), the Juvenile Justice Act (JJA), and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Ms. Saroja from Sneha organization shared details about the Good Project, while a representative from the DCPO office briefed participants on the sponsorship programme.

The training Programme served as a valuable platform for raising awareness among law students and stakeholders about child rights and protection laws. It fostered a deeper understanding of the legal frameworks that safeguard children’s rights, and we are confident that it will have a lasting impact.
