RTE task force

RTE Task Force which was initiated in 2011 is not solely funded by any group. The network member organisations and individuals are bearing minor expenses. For larger training and workshops member organisations are footing the bill. But, now there is a need to take up wide spread awareness and monitoring for the actual implementation of the RTE Act. Currently, the task force is conducting training, meetings and discussions amongst the members in order to know the status, situation and implementation of RTE Act. Along with this, we are also extending our time to reach out to the requests of NGOs, school managements and parents groups who require orientation on RTE. Curently Taskforce is focusing on

Currently the RTE Task Force as a project is working as an advocacy and resource group on RTE issues in Karnataka from Bangalore. It is catering to the needs of NGOs, local networks, schools, Govt., and individual parents who require information and clarifications on various issues related to RTE implementation. The RTE Task Force is assisting by giving explanations on RTE Act, state rules and the various circulars issued by the Govt. Gadag and Chikkaballapura districts have been short listed after discussing with the network members and the local groups. Through CRT, the nodal organisation for RTE TaskForce, several workshops on CRC, RTE, NPC, JJ Act, POCSO have been conducted for NGOs, academic institutions and religious congregations, etc. A series of workshops on data collection and analysis has been conducted at Gadag with the Dept of Social Work, Kannada Kirana Shikshana Samithi, Dharawada University who will be our collaborators in the district. In Chikkaballapura district CRT is involved in working with people with disabilities in various taluks and has developed teams to create awareness on immunisation, disability prevention, rights of people with disabilities and CRC through street plays. The groups from Gadag and Chikkaballapura are also members of KCRO, for which CRT is the Secretariat.

Our Project Area

The RTE Task Force movement was initiated as a response to the crisis situation erupted as a result of confusions created at the time of RTE Act implementation in the year 2011. Prior to this, i.e., during the last decade, CRT and its network organizations were active in pressing the Govt to pass the RTE Act as well lobbying with the Karnataka Govt for developing and implementation of the RTE Karnataka Rules. CRT team members were also members in the review committee of the Rules with the Govt. From the pan Karnataka approach of information dissemination and lobbying, CRT through RTE Task Force is proposing to work concentrating on two districts to deepen the implementation of RTE Act. The experience gained in these two districts would propel to upscale the methodology. The base line data on children, adults, etc., (as refereed in Annex 1) would be developed during the course of action of the project once we ground ourselves at the districts. The following secondary data will be of help to take up discussions: The RTE Task Force would be working in close relationship with the following groups. Not all groups are oriented about RTE and CRC. The project intends to equip the groups in the course of action and involve them in the movement.
