Conduct an Orientation on Child Rights and the Need for Communication with Children and Teachers.

Place: Chitradurga,JET School.
Purpose: Interaction with students and teachers on child rights, with particular reference to child protection and effective communication.

A child rights orientation programme was conducted for students and teachers at JET School, Gollahalli, Challakere Taluk, Chitradurga, with a special focus on child protection among rural children. The school has around 850 students and 50 teachers and is in the process of developing a Child Protection Policy and other related initiatives.

As part of the programme, the students prepared a wall magazine, which was inaugurated during the event. Interactive sessions with teachers focused on the challenges they face while working with children, particularly slow learners, stubborn children, and highly active children. Discussions also covered important child protection issues, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), child marriage, and child labour.

The children actively participated in two interactive sessions, sharing their dreams, aspirations, and the challenges they face at home and in their communities. Issues such as discrimination and child abuse emerged as key concerns. The children also expressed a keen interest in learning about writing and journalism.
