UNCRC Training
A two-day training programme on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) was conducted at VS Law College, Bellary. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Nele Nagappa, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), in the presence of the College Chairman, Principal, READS Director, resource person Mr. Raghavendra, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) member Ms. Nagamani, and college representatives.
Law students from the 1st and 2nd years, along with representatives from Sneha organization, actively participated in the programme. The event witnessed an attendance of over 60 participants.
During the sessions, Mr. Raghavendra and Ms. Nagamani provided insights into key child protection laws, including the UNCRC, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA), the Juvenile Justice Act (JJA), and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Ms. Saroja from Sneha organization shared details about the Good Project, while a representative from the DCPO office briefed participants on the sponsorship programme.
The training Programme served as a valuable platform for raising awareness among law students and stakeholders about child rights and protection laws. It fostered a deeper understanding of the legal frameworks that safeguard children’s rights, and we are confident that it will have a lasting impact.
