June 4th is now observed as International Day of Innocent children victims of Aggression to acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse.
Children could be victims not just in war hit areas but anywhere and everywhere. Knowingly, unknowingly, directly or indirectly man made or natural disaster anything could become means to make children the victims of aggression. In this regard KCRO had organised a consultation on issues that are making children the victims of aggression locally. Through consultation we observed the day on 6th and 7th of June. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Nina Nayak, former member, NCPCR, Ms. Neethu Sharma, Director, centre for Child and Law, NLSUI and Mr. Lakshapathi, Director, APSA.
Subject experts, network members, students CRT staff shared the issues, their opinions, suggestions on ways to combat the aggression. In a two day consultation we focused on Children of the Drought: Immediate and longer term actions needed in view of climate change, Food Security and Maternity Entitlements, Construction Workers’ Cess to be used for direct benefit of their children, discussion on National plan of action for Children and arrived at suggestions for the draft plan.
